JAZZ SUPPER CLUB SERIES | The Jeff Nathanson Tonal Triage

Friday April 19th

Jeff Nathanson is one Colorado’s top virtuosic saxophonists of international renown. His Tonal Triage Quartet manifestation will be honing in on re-imagined jazz standards, bossa novas, beautified ballads, sultry blues and a multi-faceted, soulful serenade of the jazzy, funky, latin variety. 

Jeff Nathanson Bio

       From 1991-2018 he was a featured soloist and horn section member for Latin- pop superstar, Luis Miguel, with whom he recorded and toured extensively, the world over. During this tenure, Jeff also recorded and toured with Kenny Loggins and Jim Messina, culminating that association with their 50 year reunion concerts at the Hollywood Bowl in 2022. Some of his other collaborative highlights include performances/recordings with, Freddie Fender, Frankie Valli, Juan Gabriel, Sheila E., Googoosh, the Colorado Symphony, and his longtime membership in the Hazel Miller Band.

Featuring Brazilian samba legend and master drummer Jorge Alabe

With Alexander Johnson (vocals and cavaquinho) and percussionists Carl Dixon, Raoul Rossiter, Vincent Gonzalez of Ginga.

There will also be a samba dance lesson and performance with Samba Colorado.

Master drummer Jorge Alabê grew up in Rio de Janeiro immersed in the rich musical culture of Brazil, becoming a master in samba percussion as well as in the Afro-Brazilian religious tradition of candomblé. He is an “Alabê” connected with the oldest candomblé house established in Brazil, Casa Branca; the title of “Alabê” means that he has obtained the highest level in drumming and leading of rituals in the candomblé religion and signifies deep experience and authority. Jorge played percussion with the highest level samba groups in Rio and was the rhythm director of Minas Gerais Samba School in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
